Gervase Warner Receives National Decoration from Japan On December 6, the ceremony for the Conferment of the Japanese National Decoration on Mr. E. Gervase Warner, President and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Massy Holdings Limited, was held on the occasion of the Emperor’s Birthday Reception at the Residence of H. E. Mitsuhiko Okada, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The Decoration, “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette”, was awarded to honour Mr. Warner for his outstanding contribution to strengthening economic relations between Japan and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Warner became the first T&T national to receive a national decoration from Japan. This award recognizes Mr. Warner’s contribution to the promotion of trade in Japanese products and services in T&T’s automotive industry and the significant contribution he made in formulating the CGCL (Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited) project. CGCL is a joint venture enterprise led by the consortium of Japanese companies, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc. and Mitsubishi Corporation, and Massy Holdings Ltd. The project aims to build and operate Methanol and Dimethyl Ether (DME) plants. This collaboration between Massy and Mitsubishi has greatly contributed to the strengthening of economic relations between Japan and T&T by facilitating the largest Japanese investment in the Caribbean. During the Conferment Ceremony, Mr. Warner expressed his sincere appreciation for the support that he has received from the Japanese government, the Mitsubishi Consortium, and his fellow colleagues at Massy Holdings Ltd. in the realization of the CGCL project.

Notice of opening of a Selection Process for Support Personnel (Driver) The Embassy of Brazil in Port of Spain is opening a Selection process for the purpose of hiring 1 (one) Support Personnel for its Chancery, whose tasks will include driving and external services. 1. Interested parties must present, on inscription, the following documents: a) Certificate of educational and/or professional formation; b) Physical and mental health certificate; c) Proof of identity and minimal 18 years of age d) Certificate of good standing. e) Curriculum Vitae. 2. Candidates who do not possess Trinidadian citizenship must also present proof that they are legally in the country and are permitted to work by the Trinidadian authorities. 3. Brazilian candidates must also present, on inscription: a) If male, proof that they have fulfilled their military conscription duties; b) Proof that they are up to date with their electoral obligations; c) Declaration that they do not occupy public posts or functions. 4. Candidates will be evaluated through curriculum analysis and through an interview. Both stages are both eliminatory and classificatory. Only candidates selected through their curricula will be then called for an interview. 5. The latest date for the inscription will be the 12th of December 2017. 6. Candidates considered able will be classified in order of priority. Able candidates not hired due to the number of available vacancies available may still be called within one year of the ending of the selection process 7. Upon signing of the work contract, the candidate must also sign a declaration in which he confirms that he is aware that his work is regulated exclusively according to Trinidadian law. 8. The National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago, a division of the Ministry of National Diversity and Social Integration, formally opened its new Conservation Wing on Friday 14th August, 2015 at its premises 105 St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain. The conservation services offered by the National Archives, including paper conservation and restoration will now be housed under one roof in the new and improved facility. The National Archives is also working to modernise its operations with one of its main initiatives being to convert the Archival collection into electronic format. Thus far scanners have been purchased for the digitisation of paper and audiovisual records. This new Conservation Wing will greatly increase public access to the Archival collection and provide additional protection for our nation’s documentary heritage.
