It s been a while since we posted anything and the reason for this silence: we needed to recharge our batteries due the hectic schedule that we had with our inaugural #SoloAfrika Festival of MonoDrama. It was an exciting week of moving in a new production every day. Pip Utton our award winning actor opened our festival with his Playing Maggie the Iron Lady. He had the opening night audience in the palm of his hand. Then the next day we had Motlatji Ditodi with R.I.D. : her father s initials. It was exciting because her parents, brother and aunt flew from Polokwane to be part of her first time telling her story. Then Dominic Paulsen was up next with Fat Mans Coop, bullying being the central theme of his story and the extra kilos that he is carrying around. Motlatji and Dominic was assisted by Kurt Egelhof our Creative Director of #SoloAfrika.Festival and they showcased their productions at this Festival. Kurt Egelhof was next with For Generations. Four generations of males in his family and the challenges they faced and with each challenge comes a choice and how those choices reverberates from one generation to the next. Pip Utton closed the festival with Adolf. And in between all the performances two Master classes given by Pip and Kurt. A week of an emotional rolkercoaster experiencing everyone s story. Some laughter, some tears, some pain. What we take away from this experience : we all have a story to tell. Thank you to all our Actors, Pip Utton, Kurt Egelhof, Motlatji Ditodi, Dominic Paulsen for sharing your stories. We thank our sponsors: Artscape , ITI South Africa Centre, Singer Group, PANSA. Our Technical Crew: Moegsien, Fareed and Ricardo. Thank you for going the extra mile. To our audience, friends and family Thank you Thank you, Thank you. We will keep you informed.
